Ladakh sits at 3,500m to 5,600m. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is real, and we have flown clients down to Delhi at midnight because they skipped Day 1 rest. Our itinerary builds mandatory 24-hour acclimatisation in Leh before any high pass — non-negotiable. Please respect this.
Best time to visit Ladakh
- May – June: Roads to Pangong/Nubra opening. Cool, colourful, less crowded early.
- July – August: Peak season. Everything open including Manali–Leh highway. Book 45+ days ahead.
- September: Golden season. Fewer crowds, still-warm days, autumn colours.
- October: Roads start closing. Fly-only.
- November – April: Winter Ladakh — Chadar Trek (Jan-Feb), frozen Pangong (Feb-Mar). Fly-in only.

Ladakh critical tips
- Fly-in, not drive-in, for first-timers. If you drive from Manali or Srinagar you gain altitude gradually — but flying and using Day 1 for rest is safer if planned well.
- Diamox 125mg twice daily starting 24 hours before arrival — consult your doctor.
- Hydration first, alcohol never at altitude.
- Do not overload Day 1. Even the airport-to-hotel drive is enough.
- Heart / lung / hypertension patients — please share medical history in advance.
- Cell network is BSNL / Jio postpaid only in Ladakh. Prepaid SIMs don't work.
- Photography permits required for some sensitive border areas.
FAQs
Can senior citizens do Ladakh?
With medical clearance and slower itinerary, yes. We restructure the trip with extra Leh rest days.
Is winter Ladakh possible?
Yes — but only for the specific experience (Chadar Trek, frozen Pangong, Snow Leopard Expedition). Not for standard tourism.
How is Ladakh food?
North Indian is default. Ladakhi thukpa, momos, skyu are worth trying. Pure veg/Jain readily available in Leh.
Is 6 nights enough for Ladakh?
Yes for the core circuit (Leh, Nubra, Pangong). 8-9 nights allows Tso Moriri and Zanskar additions.
Manali–Leh–Srinagar road trip?
The classic 10-12 day Himalayan road trip. We can arrange with self-drive Thar/Fortuner or with driver. Only Jun-Sep.
